These photos are taken along the coast of South Australia, Australia and the story goes that scientists for a long time thought it was a forest turned into stone by being covered with mud, lava, ashes or similar that over time hardened to create a stone shell of all the trunks, leaving an old remnant of a once lush rainforest. However it seems today that they found out that it is not true

Anyhow, this landscape was a treat for imagining the surface of the moon or some other planet. Have fun with the stock

Great photos, to me they look like they would be petrified trees if they think it's not how do they explain the formations the greatly resemble hollowed out trees. Very interesting rock formations, could be some form of stalagmite.

I agree they totally look like trees, maybe you are rigth that they could be a form of stlagmite or so. I can't seem to find anything about what they think formed these... If you do, please let me know, I'd love to know what they are!!!
